Sunday, March 27, 2011 – In retrospect I’m glad I went on this trip. I got to experience 80 degree, sunny, weather in March when it was rainy, sleeting cold and damp at home. I met more Mennonite brothers and sisters from across the country, which reinforces that God is at work in many more places than I usually think about. Now if only I can keep the sore muscles in shape for the next time. Maybe I should get down on my knees and up again about a dozen times a day to help.
I got to read 2 books on my Kindle while traveling. On the way down I read: “Mennonite, In a little Black Dress” by Rhoda Janzen and on the way home I read: “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese. I enjoyed both books, of course I took a hand full of other “paper books” along that I didn’t get to read; but I didn’t want to run out of reading materials. I enjoy traveling, meeting other people, getting to work with my trade skills and helping others in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.
Matthew 25:34-40
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
