About Tyler Hunsberger
Remodeling Consultant
Tyler is a fourth-generation contractor that first began working on jobsites at 12 years old.
He knew he enjoyed working with his hands and building things at an early age, but he really found his passion when he discovered how much he enjoyed building relationships.
Combining Tyler’s builder background, designers’ eye and jovial, engaging personality he has built award winning projects that have garnered him attention throughout the industry as he was recently awarded Pro Remodeler Magazine 40 Under 40 “Celebration of remodeling’s rising stars and showcasing the industry’s future”, NARI COTY (Contractor of the Year) awards and a variety of magazines including, House & Home, Suburban Life and Pro Remodeler magazine.
Success to Tyler is far beyond a project that exceeds a client’s expectations, it’s about the experience they had during the remodel. Tyler likes to say “Remodeling takes a lot of communication, heavy on the front end ironing out the details and consistent during the construction phase. As we sort through the thoughtful details of your project there is plenty of opportunity for laughter, meaningful conversation and enjoying each other’s company.”
What do you enjoy most about your job:
“The Design remodeling process is unlike any other investment, contract or professional relationship you will ever enter into. There is nothing transactional about remodeling, it takes a heavy load of communication and teamwork to get a full design and contract put together. Even buying and building a new home will be streamlined and less personal than custom remodeling. Design Remodeling takes place in your home while you are living there, the relationship and experience can make or break your project regardless of how your physical project turns out. I have walked into gorgeous Kitchens done by other contractors that look great, but the customer simply rolls their eyes, lets out an exhale and says the contractor was terrible. Quality of work was great, relationship and ultimately the experience was what they remembered. When I finish up a job and collect the final check we will know a whole lot about each other, our families, and lifestyle. My favorite phone call is following up down the road after the project is complete and finding out how the first big event went in their new space, hearing how Thanksgiving or the super bowl party or the Christmas cookie party went in their new first floor remodel is so fun hearing their excitement and having them quote back their friends and families compliments and comments on their project that we so carefully crafted together. Planning out the dream layout in your home and then hearing all about the joy it brings to your life, year after year is a wonderfully fulfilling and heartwarming part of my job.”
What is important in the design phase?
I remember when I was getting married and made the decision to get a customer tailored suit, I am only doing this once in my life, no shortcuts I am going to do it right.
Upon my arrival at the designer store I excitedly told the front desk I was here to get my wedding suit and I wanted it to be custom. Without a single congratulations, they sent me to the back where I met with a hurried, older women who smelled like cigarettes and didn’t say much. When making selections, she simply let it up to me since it was my suit, she didn’t have much of an opinion and simply pointed me in the direction and was not too interested in getting into the weeds on the details and color, texture, and breathability of the materials.
I was admittedly disappointed that the one time I was going to go above and beyond and investing in something that would last me many years that I did not have a professional that shared my passion and interest in getting it right. What went from an exciting investment and experience turned into an expensive and deflating transaction.
Your home is your largest investment and only you know the way your house flows. I am excited to lean into your distinctions and personality to make your home tailored and fitted to your needs and desires as a family. If you are quirky, lets be colorful and creative. If your simple and utilitarian lets really dial into the storage efficiencies of your space and find the heartiest finishes for quick and simple cleaning. You should absolutely be excited in remodeling your home, look for a trade partner that can grow and engage your excitement and easily lead you into the exciting and enjoyable process of design remodeling.
