Volunteering…Day 3 – MDS, Pass Christian, MS

Monday, March 21, 2011 – Today’s Schedule: Up at 6:00 AM. Pack lunches from 6:15 – 6:45 AM. Breakfast at 7:00 AM; followed by devotions as a group. A large white board in the Dining Hall has the various project sites listed with the names of the volunteers to go there for the day. We left for the job sites by 8:00 AM. Dennis went to Lulu’s house with 5 others. Dennis & Susan Landis laid ceramic tile in the Kitchen, Laundry Closet, Hall Bath and half of the Master Bath. Dennis had a sore back and knees from bending over all day. The tile saw that Susan was using doesn’t have a shroud over the blade so she got very wet with clay stuck in her hair. Others in our group were installing laminate flooring in the Bedrooms. Tim, from Johnstown, PA, was installing window sills and jamb extensions. Back to the MDS Unit at 5:00 PM. Showers before supper. Eat at 6:00 PM. At 7:30 PM they showed a video of the damage hurricane Katrina caused. We were all tired and Dennis was sore, so it was early to bed.
